Obituary for Elmer Joseph Nurse

Nurse; Elmer Joseph - Died at home in Kingston, Ontario on Monday September 12, 2011 in his 80th year. Elmer was with his wife of 49 years, Ruth when he passed away. He was an enduring and endearing presence to his children Sean, Jill and Brent as well as their spouses Tineke, Rob and Eleanor. He was the much loved grandfather of Erik, Willem, Sidney, Benjamin and Charlotte. Elmer was also a proud uncle of the ever expanding Hill and Chamberlin clans. Elmer was pre-deceased by his only sister Patricia in 1996 and her husband Edward in 1998. Elmer was born in Kingston on December 22, 1931. He attended Regiopolis Notre Dame, earned a degree at Queen's University and taught at the Kingston campus of St. Lawrence College for over 20 years. After retirement Elmer and Ruth kept busy with everything from "Old Fart" bus trips, to a month long trip roughing it in Thailand. His dry sense of humour will be missed by all and his poker skills will be missed by his fishing group; Steve, Grant, Lynn, Freddy, Jack, Roger and his best friend Bob Revell. Thank you to all who supported Ruth and Elmer over the last few months. The family will receive friends at the WARTMAN FUNERAL HOME "Kingston Chapel" (980 Collins Bay Road at Taylor Kidd Blvd.) Kingston, ON - K7M 5H2 (613-634-3722) on Friday from 3 - 8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church (88 Patrick Street, Kingston) on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations by cheque to the Alzheimer Society of KFL&A or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
