Obituary

Gavlas; Mrs Douglas "Leslie" (nee Shaver) - Passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her husband Edward Henry Gavlas. Loving mother of George (Ida), Sally Anne (Ron) Fingas, John (Petry), and Shirley (Pierre Martin) Gavlas. Sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear sister of Marvin (Bev) Shaver. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and Island friends. The family invites you to visit with them on Friday, December 13, 2019 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church from 12:30 - 1:30 and a Service to Celebrate Leslie's life will commence at 1:30 pm. Interment will take place in Glenwood Cemetery followed by a reception at the Lodge. Friends desiring memorial donations may do so to the charity of their choice. Our deepest condolences to the family of Leslie Gavlas. We have been so fortunate to have known Leslie. We will never forget her hospitality and how we were welcomed into her family. She was truly a sweet, remarkable and generous lady. Heaven has gained a very special angel. She will be so missed. Rest in Peace, Leslie - Roger and Judith Braet

I remember Leslie as a kind, serene, and welcoming person.I have so many good memories of her and of the entire Gavlas family. She will be greatly missed. I will be present in spirit on Friday. My condolences to everyone,
