Obituary for William "Bill" Holt

Holt; William “Bill” - Passed on February 22, 2013 in his 92nd year. Loving husband of the late Ellen (1992). Cherished father of Brian (Eileen) Holt of Coquitlam B.C., Jeff (Marlene) Holt of Orleans ON and Joanne (Marv) Holt of Guelph ON. Grandad of Lisa, Candace, Andrew (Erin), Stephen, David and Buster. Bill is survived by his sister Gladys in Lancashire, England. Predeceased by brother Harry (2012) and sister Doris (1995) both of England. Born on October 5, 1921 in Royton, Lancashire, England. He served in the British Army during WW2. Bill bravely brought his wife and two boys to Canada in 1953 with nothing more than determination to make a good life for his family. He worked hard as a Foreman at Millhaven Fibres and as a Custodian at Bath Public School to make that dream a reality. Anyone who knew Bill, knew that he was a stubborn, determined man, but that he was always there for those who needed him. He will be dearly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Bath on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. Celebration of Life to follow from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Church Hall. Arrangements entrusted to the Wartman Funeral Home “Kingston Chapel.” If you so desire, memorial donations made by cheque to the VON - Kingston Care Program or the Salvation Army - Napanee Branch will be remembered with appreciation by the family. You have peace now Dad.

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)
Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,
And saw, within the moonlight in his room,
Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,
An angel writing in a book of gold:—
Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,
And to the Presence in the room he said
"What writest thou?"— The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"
Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,
But cheerily still, and said "I pray thee, then,
Write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
