Obituary

Cann, Natalie Mary - It is with great sadness that the family of Natalie (nee Goudreau) Cann, 51, announces her passing on Sunday, December 15th, 2019.

Born and raised in Campbellton, NB, Natalie excelled at academics eventually moving to Fredericton where she studied Chemistry and Mathematics. She continued her doctoral studies at Dalhousie University followed by The Izaak Walton Killam Memorial postdoctoral fellowship at UBC.

Natalie then moved to Kingston where she and her husband Brian started their family. She also began her career at Queens University culminating as a well regarded head of the Chemistry Department.

Natalie will be sadly missed by her husband Brian and her two children, Alexander and Jennifer; sisters Carol Lévesque (Léo-James), Joanne Thomas (Allan) and Janet Cormier (Gérard); many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Mary (nee Imhoff) Goudreau.

Family and friends are invited to share memories at the visitation on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00pm and Friday, December 20, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Wartman Funeral Home - Kingston Chapel. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow at 11:00am in the chapel on Friday December 20, 2019.

Natalie’s family express their deepest gratitude to all the staff and personnel at Kingston General Hospital as well as other health professionals that cared for Natalie over the past year and a half.

If desired, memorial donations to the Cann Foundation @RBC, Breast Cancer Research or University Hospital Kingston Foundation (UHKF) Cancer Care Centre at KGH would be appreciated by Natalie. Online condolences at www.wartmanfuneralhomes.com.

I am saddened to hear about Natalie passing. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow. Natalie was my supervisor during my graduate studies at Queen’s University. I will always have found memories of her. Please accept my condolences, Natalie will not be forgotten.
