Persian; Leonard Joseph - Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital surrounded by his family Sunday, March 10th, 2013. Len was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Hilda; his brothers and sisters, Oswald, Elmer, Lorne, Elinor, Rita, Marie, and Doris; his loving wife, Geraldine ("Bunny") Persian; and his cherished Jo Ann (Velluto). He is survived and will be sorely missed by his daughter, Pamela; his future son-in-law, Ray; Jerry and Sandra Velluto; and his honourary grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephen, Angie, Joe, Stephanie, Christopher, Jason, Ryan, Carly, and Maggie. Len was a Veteran of the Second World War, a retired Barber, an avid outdoorsman and he wholeheartedly embraced life and lived his to the fullest. Len is a proud member in standing (50+ years) of the Royal Canadian Legion and a 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus. Len was a devout Catholic who worshipped regularly at Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Joseph's parishes, respectively. The family would like to thank the clergy, Father Brennan and Monsignor Lynch, and his fellow parishioners for their prayers and unwavering support; they would also like to express their deep gratitude for the exemplary care he received over the years from Dr.s Stewart, Beck, Zelt, Barton, and Priestknitz, the Maple Family Health Team, as well as the local chapter of the VON. The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home “Kingston Chapel” (980 Collins Bay Rd. at Taylor Kidd Blvd. 613-634-3722) on Friday, March 15th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (490 Days Rd.). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made by cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of choice, in his name.
