Obituary for Gloria Rosemonde Esford

Gloria Rosemonde Esford (Lush)1922 – 2011
Past Manager of the Kingston Family Drive In, Hyland, Odeon & Cineplex Theatres
After a long and well-lived life, peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on March 31, 2011 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Predeceased by her caring husband Garnet (1976) and her beloved parents Hugh (1941) and Alto Lush (1981). She will be greatly missed by her loving children; Cathy Silverson (William) of Mississauga, Janice Lumb (Richard) and John Esford (Laura) of Kingston; and Gary Lush Dalliday (Donna) of Peterborough. “Grammy” will be forever remembered by her grandchildren Craig Silverson (Lise) of Edmonton, Grace and Avery Esford of Kingston. Great-grandchildren Sadera, Liam and Miles Silverson will be forever touched by Gram's love. She will be sadly missed by her special sister-in-law Helen Woodley (Esford), nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. As a member of the Jubilee Women's Institute, Rockwood Psychiatric Hospital Women's Auxillary, Parent-Teacher School Associations, and proud recipient of the Outstanding Service Award with the Limestone District School Board, she instilled in her family the qualities of compassion, generosity and service to those less fortunate. She was always the “Good Samaritan”. A longtime movie theatre manager, she loved every aspect of the movie industry, enjoyed working with her peers, mentored many students in business and supported countless fund-raising activities for community groups. She was an avid pet lover. Artistic in many ways, her artwork has been shared with many and will be enjoyed for years to come. While she had a special connection to all who knew her, she especially enjoyed her friendship with her long time physician, Dr. Heather Clark, nurse Marianne, her new friends and care workers at Arbour Heights and dedicated neighbours Joanne and Paul McKeown. The family will receive friends at the WARTMAN FUNERAL HOME "Kingston Chapel" (980 Collins Bay Road at Taylor Kidd Blvd., Kingston K7M 5H2 (613-634-3722) on Monday,April 4, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Taylor Kidd Blvd on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Donations by cheque may be made in Gloria's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Kingston Humane Society.
