My Dearest Sister Gayle July 28th,1937- January 9th,2014 I will always remember Gayle for her cheerfulness, caring and kindness. Her voice had that engaging ring to it...that made you feel glad to talk to her. People liked her. She & I bonded at an early age as photographs of her holding me in her arms when I was a 2 year old clearly attest..... or later with her kneeling beside me in the snow while I was sitting on a sleigh. She was my constant companion and guardian. Even thou I was adopted into the Henderson family, she and sister Judy always made me feel we were true siblings. The three of us were inseparable. At times she would be my protector. I recall once when a kid older than me threw sand in my face only to meet Gayle’s wrath as she threaten to punch him out if he ever did it again. That’s the kind of sister she was, and that was the kind of mother she became...she would let no harm come to anyone in her family. Her best years that she really enjoyed, were spending time with her young family, going camping and boating. She loved her husband and she loved her 3 daughters. Also, she loved to cook and was darn good at it. Christmas dinners were her speciality. She wanted nothing else but to be with her family and couldn’t be happier. After Tom passed on at an early age, life became very difficult for her, but she managed to raise 3 young girls on her own...not an easy feat for anyone. In recent years she had many health issues to contend with. After a long stay in the hospital she found new friends at the nursing home where she soon became a favorite as everyone loved her. That was Gayle’s charm. When I would talk to her the phone, her voice always had that upbeat ring to it...that she was happy to hear from me regardless of her own personal situation. She certainly had her share of ups and downs ....but in the end, as I could see by recent pictures she was content. She even had a smile on her face.....something I will always treasure. God bless, my sweet sister, I miss you…you will remain in my heart! Peter
