Obituary for Douglas James Sherman

Sherman; Douglas James - Suddenly on Friday August 3, 2012 in his 67th year on Wolfe Island. Beloved husband and best friend of Beverley (nee Roantree). Cherished father of Kimberly (Doug) Gavlas and Robert (Sarah) Sherman both of Kingston. Dear brother-in-law of the late Barry Roantree (Anne) of Napanee, Joanne Fenwick (John) of Napanee, Janie Ryan (John) of Tamworth, Stephen Roantree (Kelly) of Napanee and Paul Roantree (Cindy) of Colborne. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Special cousin of Jo Ann Robins and her husband Larry of Napanee. Nephew of Marie McNeil of Napanee. Predeceased by his parents James and Josephine. The family will receive friends at the WARTMAN FUNERAL HOME "Kingston Chapel" (980 Collins Bay Rd at Taylor Kidd Blvd, 613-634-3722) on Monday August 6, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday August 8 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made by cheque to the Arthritis Society or The Wolfe Island Community Centre Fund will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
Doug was a proud and dedicated officer of the Ontario Provincial Police. He served in Downsview, North Bay and Kingston, where he retired after 30 years of service.
