brother

When Bonni and Gary were were dating I would have been nine or ten years old. I remember first meeting Gary when he came by to pick up Bonni to go out on a date. This happened to be on a Saturday night. Hockey Night in Canada was on and and I was glued to the TV watching the Habs and the Leafs. Gary came in and was instantly attracted to the game, cheering for the Habs. We had something in common and this was an instant bond for a ten year old.

When Bonni was ready to go, Gary asked me to get details of the game and tell him when he came back later. Wow, I wrote down all the scorers, assists, times, penalties, etc.  Gary whas surprised as I rambled on as much detail as Foster Hewitt. But, after this I had a genuine affinity for Gary.

He actually felt like a big brother. Gary was always excited to see me as the years went by and although we lived distant from each other, I always remembered our first meeting and the feeling that I had when we first met.
