Obituary for Stephen "Steve" Barry Sherstone

Sherstone, Stephen Barry

Steve Sherstone left his earthly life on Saturday April 18, 2015. He is, and will always be, loved and cherished by his partner, Rosemary (Ro) Mason, his sons Shea Mason and Jeremy Sherstone, daughter-in-law, Lori Sherstone (Unsworth), his sweet granddaughter, Georgia Elsie Sherstone, and his brother Dave Sherstone and sister-in-law Coby Sherstone (Veenendaal), and his precious furry boy, Sunny Bear. His parents, George and Elsie Sherstone of Perth, Ontario, predeceased him.

He is, and will always be, a treasured and adored uncle to his nieces Chantal Mason (and her fiancé, Adam Wronowiecki), Andria Sherstone, (and her partner Matthew Fletcher), Erica Mason, and Gina Hamilton, and his nephews Andrew Sherstone , Jaxom Mason, Denver Mason, Sam Mason, Devon Hamilton and great-nephew, dear little Sam Sherstone-Fletcher. He was loved and will be remembered with fondness by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Perry and Helene Mason of London, Ontario, Pat and Kim Mason of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jim and Barbara Mason of Burbank California, and Mike and Tracie Mason of Las Vegas Nevada.

Steve shared a deep dedication to enduring friendship with Jim and Mary Anne Dugmore (Ottawa), Ted and Irene Casey (Violet), Albert and Therese Dunbar (Renfrew), Bert Olmstead, (Renfrew), members of the Blind Line Gang, and so many others. He will be remembered with much laughter and great memories of his amazingly sharp wit, his sense of humour, his generosity, and for endless adventures, debates, travels, one-liners, stories and his unique perspective and advice.

Steve was a Letter Carrier for Canada Post for 31 years, serving first in Ottawa at Station F, then Napanee, and finally, Kingston, before retiring in 2002. He was a motorcycle racer and enthusiast from a very young age, a member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Club, a hunter, a fisherman, a handyman, a mechanic, a target shooter, past president of the Napanee Rod and Gun Club, past board member and Range Officer of the Kingston Rifle and Pistol Club, a traveller and adventurer, a photographer, a geography whiz, a music lover, a Neil Young fan through and through. He was drawn to natural spaces, where he found answers to his big questions and peace for his heart. And most importantly, he was a devoted, wise and loving father and husband.

Steve, thank you. We will miss you forever. You loved us all so well.
Memorial service will take place at the Wartman Funeral Home, “Kingston Chapel” on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
