MULLER, Claire Aitcheson (née Mackid) - Sept. 29, 1927 to Oct. 31, 2018 Predeceased by parents Harry W.R. Mackid and Clara (née Dunn), first husband George W. Brigden (1929 - 2007), and second husband, F. Bernard Muller (1916 - 2012). Mourned by sons Sim (Nancy Fuller), Matthew (Sue Barry) and Nels (Marcelline née Moore), step-son Andrew Muller (Janis née Whitehead), step-daughter Brenda Muller, grandchildren and step-grandchildren, David, Lindsay, Austin, Scott, Kimberly, Victoria, Trevor, Hannah, Krista, Elise & John Andrew and four step-great-grandchildren. Claire was born in the depression. Her twin brothers died as infants. She put herself through Nursing School and U of T. She married George W. Brigden and had three sons. Claire and George were co-founders of The Toronto French School and helped establish l'École secondaire Étienne-Brûlé - a TDSB French High School. Claire was a nurse & taught the deaf. As a Naturalist, Claire traveled extensively: The Galapagos, The Amazon, Costa Rica & many nature & wildlife areas. She summered in her beloved Temagami without "modern" conveniences like running water, phone or electricity. After her divorce from George, Claire met and married the love of her life, F. Bernard Muller. They enjoyed canoe camping, traveling and spent some winters in Australia. In 2001, they made their home in Wolfe Island where they enjoyed the rest of their lives together. Both were members of the Brodie Club. Throughout her nine decades, Claire made tremendous friends in many facets of her life: Havergal College Old Girls, The "Olde Gang" of Bloor St United Church, Nature Conservation, Music, Theatre, Canoeing, Hiking & Poetry. The family was amazed at the outpouring of love and support from the Wolfe Island community. Thank you all so very much. Thanks also to her principal caregivers in her last months: Winnie & Johnny. A private service will be held. A celebration of her life will take place at the General Wolfe Inn, Wolfe Island, Saturday, November 17th from 3:00 - 6:00 PM.
