Obituary for Richard Paul Stock

Stock, Richard Paul
Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12th 2021 at the age of 88. He died surrounded by his wife, Doris, and son, John, along with many loving messages that he was able to hear from his daughter in law, Brenda, as well as the grandchildren that he cherished and who adored him. The pandemic continues to make it difficult for caring, grieving families to be with their loved ones.

Richard had a long, full life that was remarkable in many ways. As a youth, he survived WW2, became a noted athlete, and then as many of that era married young, he had a child and took the courageous step to board a ship for Canada. A trained, old school craftsman, he also took classes in the emerging IT field to join corporate life with Gulf Canada. But his entrepreneurial spirit yearned and he founded a successful contracting and retail business which he ran with Doris until his retirement to pursue his love of Florida, tennis and golf. He was a member of Pine Lakes Country Club in North Ft. Myers Florida (several times club champion) and Loyalist Country Club in Bath, both of which he loved.

For over 70 years, Richard was devoted to his wife , Doris, and it seemed that they were always lovingly by each other’s side. His dying thoughts were not about himself, but to hang on until his only child, John, arrived and reassured him that Mom would be looked after. In recent days there has been a constant theme through the many wishes of remembrance and love. Many mentioned that he never met a stranger and had that unique way of intently listening and caring about all that each person said. He made everyone feel better. John stated that he has almost universally heard: "he was such a kind, sweet man!" He loved his family fiercely, including his daughter in law, Brenda, who he loved like the daughter he always wanted. His beautiful blue eyes always lit up when grandchildren Lara, Andrew and Kaitlin walked into a room and sparkled when seeing his precious great grandkids……Molly, Sam, Charlotte, Darcy, Crosby, Wiley and Tucker.

As per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wartman Funeral Home - Kingston Chapel on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:30am. Those family and friends wishing to attend the service by Zoom, please send your email address to wartmanfuneralhome@sympatico.ca.
There is much commotion on heaven’s golf course as a new player has arrived to challenge for the heavenly club championship.
