Wartman, Norma Doreen (nee Correll)
June 10, 1925 - November 11, 2022
Norma passed away on the morning of November 11, 2022, peacefully in her own bed with her hand being held in her 98th year. Predeceased by her cherished husband Robert "Bob" (2003) and her beloved sons Chris (2012) and Paul (1998). Norma is survived by her loving children Carol Mackillop (formerly Quirt) (Bill Mackillop), Colin (Brenda), Charlotte Van Leeuwen (Atul Swarup) and daughter-in-law Kathy Wartman. Norma loved her 14 grandchildren Josh (Lauren), Paul (ilana), Casey (Danny), Kate (Adam), Jill (Duncan), Robin (Will), Ryan (Nancy), Melissa (Joe), Emily (Georgios), Lauren (Rob), Claire (Timmy), Mark (Brittany), Alanna (Jeremy), and Kelsey (Paul). She was always entertained by the antics of her 14 great grandchildren Cohen, Roosje, Tatum, Dain, Connor, Paige, Amber, Mack, Olivia, Adeline, Charlie, Ava, Avery, and Cole. Predeceased by her brother Herb (Elaine) Correll, and sister Audrey (Norman) Bell and by her sister- and brother-in-laws Jean (Harry) Moore, Alvin (Phyllis) Wartman, Hester (Harry) Caldwell, Alice (Ed) Paul, Caroline (Kip) Campbell, and Nancy Warren. She will be remembered in the hearts of her extended family and many friends in Napanee and Kingston.
Norma was a graduate of Victoria College School of Business at University of Toronto in 1947. After raising her 5 children, Norma taught business at Napanee District Secondary School and retired as Head of Department. She had many voluntary roles in the community including Chair of the Board of Directors of Loyalist Community College, was a volunteer at Grace United Church for many years, and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She was an avid bridge player, sewer, curler, knitter, Christmas pudding maker, and 1st mate to RP on Johan of Rhu and later on Quantum II. RP and ND also dusted off a mean dance floor, and cherished their time together at the cottage on the long reach, Bay of Quinte.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to ND's care team of Collette, Tammy, Bellamy, Eric, Dr. Kondor, Dr. Gaskin and her PSWs Neomi and Marjorie who she adored so much.
The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home - Napanee (448 Camden Rd, Napanee K7R 1G1 (613-354-3722) on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Service of Celebration in the Chapel on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11am. Interment at Riverside Cemetery. Friends desiring may contribute to the Community Foundation for Lennox and Addington or Grace United Church, in memory of Norma.
