Obituary for Nancy Louise Dignam (Dumbrille)

Nancy Louise Dignam (Dumbrille)
1930 - 2021
Died peacefully on September 10, 2021 in her 91st year at Arbour Heights Long Term Care Home, Kingston Ontario. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Mike (1994). Nancy will be missed by her siblings John (Doris), Peter (Carolyn) and Paul (Marg); by her son Don, his wife Lynn and their children Devin, Andrea, Geoffrey and Michael; by her daughter Carol and her children Daniel and Camille; by her son Tim, his wife Sheila and their children Colin and Devyn; by her son Darcy, his wife Melanie and their son Russell and by her son Marc, his wife Suzanne and their children Ethan and Emma. She will also be missed by her nephews, nieces and friends. Nancy raised five unruly children in North Toronto and gave them many idyllic summers on Chubb Island in Georgian Bay. Later, Mike and Nancy sold the cottage and the Toronto house and bought a century old farm in the Caledon hills. Nancy took on the role of shepherdess, sometimes nursing abandoned lambs in a playpen in her kitchen. She was a great cook, and family and friends enjoyed many delicious roast lamb dinners at the farm. After Mike’s untimely death, Nancy moved back to Toronto and then later to Kingston. During this time, she travelled the world with friends and family, visiting the arctic several times and even going on safari in Africa. She was an avid antique and art collector and was also active with the ROM and The Women’s Art Association of Canada.
