Obituary for Leonard "Len" W. McIntosh

McINTOSH, Leonard (Len) W.
1932-2019

Peacefully at home, with his wife and daughter by his side, Len McIntosh, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, following a prolonged illness.

Len is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Claudia and his daughter Lynn (Burl Vibert), as well as his siblings Gary (Jackie) and Donna Casford (late Millen), and his sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Harold Rendell. He is pre-deceased by his son, Michael; his mother, Winnifred; and his brothers, Frank (Fern) and Ned (late Shirley).

Following 44 years of dedicated service to ALCAN Canada, Len retired early in 1992 to pursue a life of "leisure". Len was first and foremost passionate about, and devoted to, his family. He was a generous and loyal individual who enjoyed golfing, billiards and mechanics of any kind. Len was also an accomplished, self-taught carpenter who lovingly and skilfully built and renovated two family homes. He was a life-long member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 560.

Claudia and Lynn feel privileged to have cared for Len during his final years and they would like to sincerely thank Dr. Natalie Kondor of Queen's Palliative Care Medicine Program, as well as Len's Nurse, Gennaro Del Prete, and his PSWs Amanda Garrison, Carrie, Briana, Mardi, Betty and Kate of Saint Elizabeth Home Health Care, for their support and compassionate care.

In keeping with Len's wishes, aquamation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in honour of Len may be made to The Palliative Care Medicine Program of the Southeastern Ontario Academic Health Sciences Centre (Queen's University) https://deptmed.queensu.ca/divisions/palliative-medicine.
