My Nanny was a truly unique person. She wasn't your typical grandmother. She hated the term grandmother as it made her feel old. I never thought of Nanny as old. In her heyday and for much of my childhood she donned bleach blonde hair, tube tops, and bright pink lipstick. She chewed chlorophyll gum constantly and drank PC Diet Cola with a straw. She loved all things pickled. She collected strange things like egg cups and dancing Santas. She was quite the character. She had a razor sharp Irish wit with East-Coast charm and a Cape Breton accent to boot. She had a fantastic, quirky sense of humour. She told off-colour jokes that would catch many off-guard. She knew how to make me laugh. She always knew how to cheer me up and she always had her signature macaroni pasta waiting for me when I came over. She will be missed and the laughs will never be forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Nanny. xoxo

Vi Clarke was a fiercely protective mother. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was witty, funny and generous. And she sang like an angel.
I will always miss her and cherish my memories of her.

I was so saddened to hear Aunt Vi passed away. I'm so sorry for your loss. I haven't seen Aunt Vi since I was 18 - so about 27 years ago. She always reminded me so much of Nan Gushue and her and my mom (Colleen). Really enjoyed their visits as I recall. I remember her being smart, funny, and very kind. Reading your comments about her makes the tears flow down my face. My most sincere condolences ❤ Crystal Dicks
