Helen Bernice Faulk was 100 years old when she passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 after a gradual decline in health in recent years. She was born Helen Bernice Dawson, daughter of John and Delia Dawson, at Napanee, Ontario. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Pastor Albert Smith, son Lloyd Smith and one great-granddaughter, Nina Hsiung, brothers Malcom and Bruce Dawson and sister Violet Grant. She is survived by a daughter, E. Gael Lohnes, son-in-law, Pastor Keith Lohnes, two grandaughters, Ruth Juhlin (Steven) and Marie Hsiung (Steven) and five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Anna, Matthew Juhlin, Sarah and Serena Hsiung.

With her husband, Pastor Albert Smith, she worked in church ministries in the Standard Church and Free Methodist Church, serving congregations in Quebec and Ontario. In later years she continued to serve in lay ministry at Napanee with pastoral visitation for the Free Methodist Church and leading seniors hymn sings. After her first husband died she was married to Albert Faulk of Denbigh, Ontario who also pre-deceased her.

In 2003 after a stroke, she moved to a care facility in Brampton, Ontario to be near her daughter, Gael. At the time of her passing she was living at Faith Manor, Holland Christian Homes. In recent years, she was a member of Bramalea Free Methodist Church, Brampton, Ontario.

So sorry I can’t be there for Aunt Helen’s service. She was always wonderful and loving to me. Whenever we were together she would always hold my hand and say “come along Jeanie!” We shared so many memories include a couple of wonderful letters. She wrote to me after Uncle Ab passed...a letter of encouragement and praise. Amazing!
I have enjoyed visiting with her each year in the summer...and she would often remark that she didn’t understand why the Lord hadn’t taken her home. isn’t difficult to picture her reunited with her family.
I praise God for my Aunt Helen...I was blessed to be part of her life!
We love you,
Walt, Jean

Helen was "Nanna" to me. I admire my grandma for her deep faith in God, her ability to make meaningful connections with people, and her resilience through many significant challenges. I am blessed that my children were able to have a relationship with their great-grandmother since she moved to Brampton. It was a delight to spend time with her in her last days, singing songs and worshiping together. We miss her but we are so happy that she is with the Lord. Marie Lohnes Hsiung
