Obituary for Grant Elroy Miller

Grant Elroy Miller (89)...a truly kind and gentle man.... passed away peacefully in the compassionate care of Village Green Nursing Home, Selby, Ontario, on Friday, August 14, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Marina (nee Kerr) and loving father of William (Debbie Caton), North Battleford, Sask. and the late Catherine (Peter Rukavina), PEI.
Predeceased by his parents, Jim Miller and Hazel (Miller) Thompson, his brother Clarke Miller. Survived by his sisters Vallery Klein (John) and Louise Brant (Dennis Cunningham).
Marina and Grant shared 62 years of marriage believing that their most precious gifts were their two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Grant was the proud Poppa of Valerie Shepherd (Kris), Allan Tulloch, Patricia Behnke (Daniel), James Miller (Briana Bute), and Oliver Rukavina; great-grandfather of Makayla, Jackson, Mathias, Carmen and Holly.; and "Uncle Grant" to numerous nieces and nephews.
Grant was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, moving to Sydenham, Ontario at the age of 12. He was a diligent, competent and caring worker whether at Alcan, Kingston, managing the family farm, or as a schoolbus driver in South Frontenac County. He enjoyed many sports, softball and curling being his favourites. This peaceful and modest man had a deep appreciation for the wonderments and beauty of nature, delighting in his collected works of art and wood-carvings.

To honour Grant, and for family and friends to share memories of his life, Wartman's Funeral Home has arranged for a funeral to take place at the Sydenham Cemetery on Church Street, Sydenham, Ontario, on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 1:30 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimers Society or to the Lennox-Addington County Hospital.
