Obituary for Francis Leonard Golden

Golden, Francis Leonard "Frank" - Died at home on Saturday, July 25th, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a year and a half -long battle with cancer. Frank was born and raised in Westport, ON, and lived in Amherstview, ON, for all of his adult life. He worked for the Correctional Service of Canada for 35 years and, after his retirement, he ran a successful driveway sealing business.

Frank was kind, generous, and had a witty sense of humor. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back, if he needed it. He would talk to everyone, everywhere he went, often to the dismay of his family who were waiting for him. He made people laugh, and loved to laugh himself. “Right on!” he would say.

Frank is survived by his partner, Barbara Bresee; children; Lisa Golden, Chris Golden (Jessica Luke) and Kelly Golden (Cory Caird); sister, Eileen Younge and sister-in-law, Evelyn Golden. He had 5 grandchildren – Sloan, Madison, Max, Vivian, and Lucas – one great grandchild, Dillon, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Golden; his parents, Mary and James Golden; and his siblings, Joseph Golden, Gerald Golden, Gordon Golden, Kathleen Golden, and Doreen Fitzgerald.

The family extends a special thank you to his niece Shelley Younge, for helping them to keep Frank comfortable at home; the LHIN; paramed nurses, Sarah, Wendy, Alice, and Gabrielle; the Palliative Care team of Dr. Kondor; Dr. Flanagan; and Dr. Lackwood.
