Obituary for Liz Dobbs Jones

DOBBS JONES, Elisabeth Maria "Liz" (nee RATKAI)

The Adventures in Medicine ended on February 28, 2019, from where Liz left for her final adventure over the rainbow on March 19, 2019.

Left to honour Liz’s life include beloved husband Michael Jones, son Matt Dobbs (Jaclyn), and ‘Mini Me’ Granddaughter, Ella Dobbs Geneau. Much loved blended and extended family gathered along the path of life include step children Krista Dobbs Jones (Mike), granddaughters Emily and Rylee; Ryan Dobbs (Niki), granddaughters Lauren, Grace and Isabelle; Brooke Belles (Mike), grandson Ayden, granddaughters Azlyn and Matilda. Step son Gabe Jones (Maddie) and step daughter Nathalie Jones (Paul).

Daughter of the late Laszlo Ratkai and Maria Orr, sister to late brothers Peter Paszty and Andrew Ratkai. Predeceased by first husband Rick Dobbs (2002).

Mike and Liz have spent 15 years doing what they enjoyed the most – being with each other, working on their hobbies and of course, cruising on their Harley!

Liz was well known for her wonderful inspirational spirit, thoughtfulness, kindness, caring and passion for making her community a better place. In 2015, Liz was awarded the prestigious Davies Award for Excellence in Philanthropy, recognizing the many gifts she has made in support of our hospitals. Liz retired from her position as Director of Major Gifts, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) in 2014, as part of the major gifts team.

There will be visitation at the Wartman Funeral Home - Kingston Chapel (980 Collins Bay Rd.) on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.; and again at the funeral home on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.. Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 2 p.m. at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 1111 Taylor Kidd Blvd. Reception to follow the Mass in the church hall. There will be an open mike for those wishing to have their parting remarks. Food, music and refreshments will be provided. Come and meet the family, and some great and wonderful friends.

“I was here and now I’ve gone.” Those who liked her, liked her a lot.
