Obituary for Brenda Lee Dumais (Lamb)

Dumais; Brenda Lee (nee Lamb) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Lee (nee Lamb) Dumais. Brenda passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the age of 81. Brenda is predeceased by her parents Morden and Lois Lamb (nee Miller) as well as her brother Robert Lamb and sister Elizabeth Crane (nee Lamb). Adored by her beloved husband Michel Dumais of 64 years, as well as her children Robert Dumais of Guelph and Marc Dumais (Sarah) of Markham. Brenda will be missed by her brother Mickey Lamb of Bramalea, nieces Kelly Crane of Brampton and Kathy Crane of Vaughn, great nephew Michael Billings, brother and sister-in-law Serge and Monique Beaudoin of Montreal and her nieces Marlene Beaudoin (Dan), Brigitte Beaudoin (Pierre) and Genevieve Beaudoin (Benoit) as well as many friends near and far.

Brenda was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1938 to an English family and raised in Eastman, Quebec. Spending most of her time in the outdoors Brenda developed a love for animals and nature at a young age. Fearless for her petite frame Brenda could boast swimming to the other side of the local lake. Always a hard working and industrious person she joined the workforce at age 16 getting a job in hospitality at Mountain Lodge by Orford Lake Quebec. It was at this time in her life that she met her French Canadian husband Michel and learned to speak French fluently. When Brenda and Michel's first son Robert was 4 years of age, the Dumais family uprooted and transplanted to Los Angeles, California calling it home from 1962 - 1967. While living in California, Brenda was able to travel to see the natural beauty of many of the country's National Parks and campgrounds with her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, first making clothes for her family and later crafting gorgeous quilts and decor for her family's home. After returning to Canada, the Dumais' relocated to Ontario, moving homes every few years. At each home Brenda's green thumb cultivated large gardens full of beautiful flowers and delicious produce. Later in her life Brenda discovered her love and talent for painting, much of which you can find throughout the Dumais household. During her life Brenda worked tirelessly as a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper for her husband Michel's machining business. Her care and effort often took the form of delicious home cooking and the hosting of many gatherings of family and friends. Twenty-two years after having their first son Robert, Brenda and Michel were blessed with Marc and credited his late arrival to the family for keeping them young. In recent years, retired and settled just outside of Newburgh, Brenda spent much of her time continuing with her love of crafting and gardening, watching blue jays and other birds visit her bird feeder, camping and canoeing in Ontario and going for walks with her husband Michel and Keeshond Mercedes (predeceased). Brenda's caring and thoughtful manner was a joy and comfort to all who knew her and had the pleasure of being a guest at her kitchen table. She will be dearly missed.

Cremation has already taken place.
