Obituary for Gordon Jarvis

Arthur Charles Gordon Jarvis

It is with great sadness that we announce that Gord Jarvis passed away peacefully in Ottawa on August 7, 2022, at the age of 100 years. His family all marvel at his longevity together with his positive and happy outlook on life.

Son of the late Arthur and Yvonne Jarvis; brother of deceased sister, Marie Wardrope (Bill); beloved husband of deceased Mary (nee Reeve) and later husband of Ursula (nee Tudor-Parker). Gord leaves his 3 sons: Greg (Jennifer), David (Alison) and Ian (Sabine), 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Gord will fondly be remembered by the Reeve Family, his ‘in-laws’, as well as many nieces and nephews.

An honours graduate from Ridley College (1939); Mechanical Engineering at Queens University (1943); and Business at University of Western Ontario (1949). Gord served as a Lieutenant in the RCEME group stationed in Belgium and Holland during WWII (1943-1945). Gord enjoyed a long management career at Canadian General Electric (1952-1984). Involved in many community endeavours, including church and local riding affairs, for many years, Gord always gave his time for others. His pastimes were spent playing golf and curling (into his 90’s) and playing bridge with friends.

His family would like to extend its utmost thanks and gratitude to the staff of Viva Retirement Community Residence in Barrhaven (Ottawa) for their services and care provided during the last years of his life. He truly appreciated the quality of his residence as well as the comforts provided.

Internment arrangements have been made by/for Gord to be buried alongside Mary in the Reeve-Jones family plot at the Woodlands Cemetery located in London, Ontario. Gord has requested that a memorial service be attended by the immediate family only……. still managing his own affairs!
Arrangements have been entrusted in Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee, online condolences may be forwarded through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
