Obituary for Alfred Thomas "Alf" Elliott

Alfred Thomas "Alf" Elliott
Elliott, Alfred "Alf" - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred Thomas Elliott on May 31, 2016.
Alf is survived by his loving wife Beverly, his daughter Tammy (Jaret), son Jason (Jennifer) and Beverly's son Mark Pybus (Eileen), mother Joyce, sister Patricia Lockey (Graham), and his much loved grandchildren Brandon, Nathan, Bohdan, Devyn, Loic and Rose.
Alf was born in London England. He came to Canada in 1968 and worked in the construction and restaurant industries until his employment as a Federal Correctional Officer for the last 25 years where he was active in the union & E.A.P.. Of the Jobs he held, being a correctional officer was the one he held dearest. Alf embraced life with enthusiasm and optimism. He had many friends and was known for his steadfast loyalty to them. He loved attending the occasional poker game with his friends where he usually ended up losing, but he had great fun with good friends.
He was passionate about soccer and football and one of the highlights of his life was a trip to Dallas Texas with his son and son-in-law to visit the AT&T stadium to take in a Dallas Cowboys game and a little tailgating.
Alf was a life long runner and participated in numerous marathons. He ran rain, snow or shine, it didn't matter.
Alf loved to travel and he like nothing better than to visit his condo in Mexico and sit on the beach sipping a cold one. This was his little piece of heaven.
There were so many layers to Alf that no one could begin to know. He was selfless and generous, always helping many behind the scenes, not wanting or needing any recognition for the things he did for others.
To try to sum up someone's life in only a few paragraphs is impossible but if you could take a moment in time to be able to have others fully understand the impact Alf had on others, it could be seen at his retirement party in a room, overcrowded beyond capacity filled with those who loved him, called him friend and wanted to wish him well.
Alf loved and was loved and he made a difference in this world. He will be missed.
The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home "Kingston Chapel" on June 7, 2016 from 11a.m. - Noon, Service in the Chapel at Noon, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.
