Obituary for Rose Elaine Wood (Soluk)

Wood, Rose E. (nee Soluk) - Surrounded by Love and with immense sadness, Rose E. Wood, (The Rose), died peacefully at the age of 93 in her home on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 in Napanee, Ontario.

Rose is survived by her sister Kay Benoit and son Barry Neufeld, six grand-children, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Frances, her husband Art, son Dan and seven brothers and sisters. She will be missed by Piper her beloved companion and a multitude of many loving friends and family.

She ended her career as Department Head in the International Development Research Centre, travelling around the world. An adventurer at heart, she continued to work spending four years developing property in the Turks and Caicos Islands after she retired. Settling in Napanee over 20 years ago, Rose became a member of the Napanee Red Hatters and was the current Queen.

Rose’s special wit and charm, together with the support of her physician Dr. C. Gonu, all the compassionate health professionals and her wonderful friends helped her through her courageous battle with cancer.

On Saturday, March 2, 2019 starting at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will take place at the Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee, ON. A Royal Canadian Legion memorial Service in the Chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception and refreshments. Donations by cheque or credit card accepted to her favourite charities: Napanee Legion 137; the Ontario SPCA Lennox and Addington; Hospice of Lennox & Addington.
