Online Memorials

Forty years ago it was commonly expected that an obituary for a loved one would be published in the print newspapers in the community or communities where the deceased resided for any length of time. But the continued decline in readership, due in large part to the Internet, has greatly affected this long-standing tradition. In fact, today's newspapers are changing the way they deal with obituary submissions: while some local newspapers publish obituaries or death notices at no charge to the family; others demand a rather significant publication fee, based on word count or the number of column inches used, and there is usually an extra fee for any photographs submitted for inclusion.

Today, There's the Internet

Fortunately, online memorials have taken the place of the print obituary or death notice, and Wartman Funeral Home Inc. offers what we consider to be the finest example of online memorials, the Book of Memories™. Created by a team of award-winning web developers and designers lead by a funeral professional with over 25 years of experience, the Book of Memories™ is intended to provide your family with a permanent place to pay tribute to your loved one.

More About the Book of Memories™

Far more than a traditional obituary—which is usually published only once and has no interactivity at all—the Book of Memories™ Memorial Website is a fully-interactive archive of treasured photographs and stories remembered from their time spent with friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.

You'll be able to invite others to visit the online memorial, where they can upload images, light a virtual memorial candle, send a sympathy card, share stories, write heart-felt messages of condolence, send a floral tribute to the funeral, or make a charitable donation in memory of your loved one. And the built-in social media integration means they can then “spread the word” about their addition to your loved one’s Book of Memories™ using Facebook and Twitter.

We offer the families we serve a Book of Memories™ memorial website with the intention that it gives you a measure of solace and comfort during the coming months. To arrange for a Book of Memories® memorial website for your loved one, call us today at (613) 634-3722.

Tribute Videos

"Once upon a time..." If you were to use those words to begin to tell the story of your loved one's life, where would they lead you? How will the story of their lifetime unfold?

You may already be familiar with tribute videos, having seen one at the funeral or memorial services you've attended. But, if not; here are the facts: a tribute video is an artistically-crafted compilation of treasured family photographs, embedded into a themed background and coupled with beautiful music. Both entertaining and instructive, the tribute video is intended to be shown during the funeral or memorial service. But it's also meant to become a family keepsake, and as such, a copy or copies of your loved one's tribute video will be provided to you and any other family members you designate as recipients.

What's Your Role in Tribute Video Creation?

Obviously, we can't create a tribute video of your loved one's life without your family's assistance. We'll be turning to you not only to provide us with the photos; we'll also want to spend time with you continuing from that initial "Once upon a time" to tell us the story of their life. Don't worry; we're not expecting you to devote hours to the telling; the majority of the work you and your family will do involves gathering together the photographs. We're looking for the best quality photographs, and each should be labeled with the date it was taken (as we strive to present a life in chronological order).

Let's Tell Their Story...Together

Not everyone is a celebrity, but we believe that everyone's life really does deserve to be showcased. And we're confident you feel the same about your loved one; so we urge you to contact us today to learn how we can work together to shine a bright spotlight on their life's achievements, passions, and pursuits.
