Gavlas; Kimberly Lynn (nee Sherman) - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Lynn Gavlas on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Kingston General Hospital. Beloved wife of Doug, much loved daughter of Bev Sherman and cherished sister of Rob Sherman (Sarah Chambers). Dear daughter-in-law of George and Ida Gavlas, special sister-in-law to Jessica and Byron Rybka and devoted aunt to Victoria Rybka. Predeceased by her father, Douglas Sherman, her grandparents Jim and Jo Sherman and Marjorie and Harry Roantree. Dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her Roantree, Robins, Gavlas and Bulch families. Spending time at family gatherings, with a child on her lap, was a blessing that Kim always treasured. Kim fought a long and courageous battle with Interstitial Lung Disease but her smile and sense of humour would never tell you so. Her strength and determination in living and coping with this disease daily was an inspiration to us all. Many thanks to the staff of Davies 4 ICU, Kidd 2 ICU and Providence Care Hospital, the Respiratory Therapists, Dr. Lougheed, Dr. Moffatt, Dr. Harle, Dr. Davis and Dr. Baxfield. The family will receive friends at the WARTMAN FUNERAL HOME - Kingston Chapel (980 Collins Bay Rd at Taylor Kidd Blvd, 613-634-3722) on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service on Monday, June 4 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Donations in Kim's memory can be made to the Critical Care Program at KGH or Respiratory Rehab Program at Providence Care Hospital.
