Hunter; Robert "Bob" David - (Former Dupont Retiree) It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts, after a short battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) David Hunter peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 26th, 2017 at the age of 80 to his heavenly home. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Mary Evelyn (nee Anglin) for 28 years, a loving father to David (Jeanine), Paul (Tammy) and June (Joseph) Bros’, Tracey (Shawn) Pankow and Robbie Lasher. Cherished Grandfather (Papa) of Allison (Rob), Eric, Anthony, Aly, Victoria, Rachel, Shelby, Kayleigh, Shawna, James and Tatiana. Great-Grandfather to Ashton, Daphnie and Layla. Cherished brother of Mary Margaret (Walter) Turon, Bill (Francis) and Bruce Hunter. Brother-in-Law to Glenn (Linda) and Ernest (Jorene) Anglin. Also remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents John Alex Hunter and Mary Phoebe Fleming and his loving wife Patricia June (Stephenson) and nephew Darren. Bob was a gentleman, respected and loved by everyone he had contact with throughout his life. Bob left home in Hagersville at the age of 17 headed to Kingston to attend Royal Military College (RMC). In 1956 he went to Queen’s University, graduating in 1959 with B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. He joined DuPont Canada in 1959 at the Nylon Fibres Plant in Kingston and remained for over 36 years. Starting in Technical Department and advancing to different supervisory positions throughout his career. Bob was active in his community from doing volunteer work for several charity organizations and then in 1984 becoming Campaign Chairman for United Way, he was President of both Centennial Transportation Club and Kingston Stamp Club. He was an active member in the United Church of Canada and Kingston Standard Church. Bob cared and loved people as demonstrated in his part-time work for Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home for over 21 years. Thank you to Vicki Johnston of South East LIHN and all the care givers of Paramed who made Bob’s journey easier through this illness and a special thank you to the KGH Palliative Care Doctors, especially Dr. Flannigan and Dr. Trussler who gave Bob such great medical care and showed great compassion to his family. Visitation will be held at Wartman Funeral Home - Kingston Chapel (980 Collins Bay Road) on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at 11am. Interment in Cataraqui Cemetery.
