Obituary for Maurice Wilbert Harten

Harten, Maurice Wilbert
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Harten in his 75th year on Thursday, September 21, 2017 after a lengthy hospitalization at the Kingston General Hospital. The Sweet and so charming little man with a big heart is on his journey home to heaven to be with God and his predeceased family and friends. He was a true gift and blessing to this world and touched many with his pure spirit and character of "specialness." Affectionately and fondly known as "Mo - Mo" or "Mo." He had an endearing and tender childlike curiosity and innocence for bringing much joy and smiles. He is now at peace. Those who paid attention to him had lots to learn from his brave less fortunate saintly like presence. Born on St. Josephs Island, Mo is the son of the late Mary Harten (nee MacKenzie) and the late Wilbert Harten. Brother of the late Lois Wallace (Bill Wallace). Uncle of Raymond and remembered by the Harten & MacKenzie families. Since 1974 Mo - Mo has lived with his guardian Brian Wilson and will always be remembered and sadly missed by the Wilson's and their extended family. Mo is the cherished uncle of the late Shannon Wilson. He is the sweetheart of Ms. Grace Vicente who's selflessness to Mo was enduring and brought endless loving joy to his life, spoiling him and making his dreams come true. He was a long term friend and treasure to Ms. Ruth Cofield who over the years afforded Mo with many special outings and compassionate loving support. Special thanks and mention are extended to the hospital staff who went beyond the call of duty and forced themselves to try and understand Mo - Mo's special needs. The kindness of the many in the ICU are remembered and Pastor James will not be forgotten. As his mother had wished Maurice will be buried with her following a Graveside Service at the Greenwood Cemetery, Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. God Bless you Mo - Mo. We love you and will miss you forever. And Yes Mo - Mo - "Leaves Fall Down Now". Thanks for being a part of our life and bringing us so - so much joy. In honour of Maurice's life, memorial donations by cheque or credit card to the Kingston Salvation Army "Christmas Hamper Fund" would be greatly appreciated. Funeral Arrangements Entrusted to the Wartman Funeral Home "Kingston Chapel." Online condolences at www.wartmanfuneralhomes.com
