Obituary for Marion Leone Leavens

Leavens; Marion Leone (nee Simpson) - formerly Kenny and Powley. Survived by her husband James Ernest Leavens, sons Stuart Kenny (Erin) of Toronto, Steve Kenny (Shelly) of Kingston, Mike Powley (Robin) of Enterprise and Dave Powley of Kingston, step-daughters Susanne Sheffield (Cal) of Napanee and Renee Leavens of Kingston. She leaves behind ten grandchildren, Clinton, Jesse, Brody, Michael, Nathan, Becky, Francheska, Rayne, Darius and Thomas. Also surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Armes (Bob) and two brothers, Tom Simpson and Dan Simpson (Joan). She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Dorothy Simpson, first husband Melvin Kenny, daughter Susannah Margaret Kenny and sister-in-law Sharon. Born on July 6, 1945, Marion arrived in the Kingston area after the expropriation of the family farm in New Jerusalem, New Brunswick to form Camp Gagetown. After raising her children, Marion began two life-long dreams. She returned to college and became a local Real Estate Agent working for Century 21 in the Napanee area and began her first novel. Marion was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and helped organize the annual Nativity Exhibit held at the chapel each December. Marion passed away following a battle with cancer on May 10, 2015 at the age of 69. The wake will be held at Wartman’s Funeral Home "Napanee Chapel" from 7 - 9 pm on Tuesday and 10 - 11 am on Wednesday. The funeral will be held at the funeral home chapel at 11 am on Wednesday May 13, 2015. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Napanee Family and Children's Services would be greatly appreciated by the family.
